Hand In Hand Committee
The Hand in Hand Committee's mission is to spread love and positivity through acts of kindness and mitzvot. Based on the principle of Tikkun Olam, we hope to encourage healing and connection for the people in our community who participate and for those that we serve.
We have recently cooked and served food to homeless families staying at Jewish Family Service's Safe Parking Lot Program. We hosted "Crochet for a Cause," where we learned the basics of crochet and created warm hats for homeless children at the Monarch School. Additionally, we participated in Red Shoe Day to support families with critically ill children who require long-term care at Rady Children's hospital. We hope that you will join us for our next event!

UPDATE: July 9th - JFS's Parking Lot Program
[July 9th:] EXCITING NEWS!
The Hand in Hand committee would like to thank the Beth Am community for helping us raise more than double our initial goal of $600 to feed homeless families at the JFS Safe Parking Lot Program. Many families utilizing the program would go hungry if not for donated meals. We successfully raised $1,570 to purchase two nights of 60 hot meals for hungry families and we will reserve the additional funds for a third night in the future. We are only $226 dollars away from being able to provide our third night of 60 meals...WOW!!
We would like to send a huge thanks to Micah Goldfarb, a Beth Am congregant and owner of the restaurant Green Spot. Not only did Micah put together a special order of meat, potatoes, and veggies, but he also hand delivered the meals to JFS each night. Micah went above and beyond to make sure the meals were not only delicious and healthy, but filling as well.
A very special thank you also goes out to the amazing volunteers who made dinner extra sweet by baking home-made cookies, brownies, and biscotti.
If you are interested helping us reach our new goal to feed those in need for a third night, you can Venmo Hand in Hand committee Chair, Lauren Hiller at Lauren-Hiller-1. Any amount is beyond appreciated!
Thank you,
Chair, Hand in Hand Committee
UPDATE: June 19th - JFS's Parking Lot Program
[June 21st:] The Hand in Hand committee would like to thank the Beth Am community for helping us raise more than double our initial goal of $600 to feed homeless families at the JFS Safe Parking Lot Program. Many families utilizing the program would go hungry if not for donated meals. We have currently raised $1,461 which will allow us to purchase two nights of 60 hot meals for hungry families and we will reserve the additional funds for a third night in the future.
There is a lot of heart in our community. Whether you have joined us to help knit hats for the homeless, helped us raise awareness and funds for the Ronald McDonald House at Rady Children's Hospital, or have helped us cook and serve hungry families at the JFS Safe Parking Lot Program, we are so very grateful. Our community efforts in Tikkun Olam remind us that we can create positivity and light in the space around us, no matter how dark things may seem.
We would also like to thank Micah Goldfarb, a Beth Am congregant and owner of the restaurant Green Spot, for pulling his team together and delivering 60 individually packaged, hearty and delicious meals to the families of the program last night.
If you are interested in supporting our third night of meals, you can Venmo Hand in Hand committee Chair, Lauren Hiller at Lauren-Hiller-1. Any amount is beyond appreciated during these challenging times.
